How to Optimize Plant Growth with Light Measurements
Different plants have vastly different light requirements. Using your Luxmeter app to measure the actual light levels your plants are receiving can significantly improve their health and growth.
Here’s a quick guide to the light requirements of common houseplants:
- Low light plants (50-250 lux): Snake plants, ZZ plants, pothos
- Medium light plants (250-1,000 lux): Peace lilies, philodendrons, ferns
- High light plants (1,000+ lux): Succulents, cacti, citrus trees
By taking measurements at different times of day, you can determine if your plants are receiving adequate light. If readings are consistently below what your plants need, consider relocating them or supplementing with grow lights.
Remember that seasonal changes affect natural light intensity and duration. Using Luxmeter’s history feature, you can track these changes and adjust your plant care accordingly.
